Longtime Thomas and Sherman County, Kansas resident Yvonne Geraldine (Foss) Musil, 78, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.
She was born November 13, 1937, at Holdrege, Nebraska, the daughter of Iola Frances (Arford) and Harold Lee Foss. She attended Colby High School.
On March 31, 1956, she and Marlin Musil were married in Colby. Marlin’s military career took their family to live in many United States locations and also to the Philippines for eighteen months. She was a homemaker and had also worked for the United States Postal Service. Her memberships included First Christian Church in Goodland, where she had served as a board member, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Yvonne didn't know a stranger, whether she was at church, volunteering, or simply a routine trip to Wal-Mart. Yvonne enjoyed giving all of her grandchildren a hard time, often calling them by the wrong name. She loved playing games and telling stories. Her grandchildren's favorite story was how she met and married the love of her life, their grandfather, in 4 weeks. Her wit and advice will be missed by so many.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Marlin Musil, who died January 9, 2004; two sons Kevin Musil and Terry Musil; brother Ronnie Foss; sisters-in-law Debbie Foss and Rebecca Musil; and son-in-law Robert Dunigan.
Surviving family includes her children Kimberly Musil-Huck of Sachse, Texas; Wendy Musil-Gabel of Richardson, Texas; Brenda Musil-Dunigan and her husband Kirby of Royse City, Texas; Dawn Kibel and her husband Stan of Goodland; daughter-in-law Connie Musil-Weber of Bushton; 14 grandchildren: Amber and Tyler Huck of Rockwall, Texas; Meredith and Marshall Musil of Bushton; Kyle, Rachel, and Brett Gabel of Richardson, Texas; Bryan and Sarah Dunigan of Royse City, Texas; Kevin Kibel and his wife Candice of Beaver, Oklahoma; Michelle Kibel of Portland, Oregon; Holly Rall and her husband Dual of Goodland; Kara Johnson and her husband Ryan of Goodland; Justin Kibel of Hawaii; 6 great-grandchildren Stetson and Shelby Johnson; Ashly, Autumn, and Kaiden Kibel; and Shaina Dunigan; and brother Jerry Foss of Colby.
The funeral will be Tuesday, May 10, at 10:30 AM MT, at the First Christian Church in Goodland, with Pastor Doug Amend officiating. Burial will follow in the Brewster Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Monday, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
Memorials may be designated to the Yvonne Musil Memorial, and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
