Former Goodland, Kansas resident, Vickie Lou Tompkins, 61, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado.
Vickie was born on May 11, 1956 in Goodland, Kansas to Augustus “Tommy” and Viola (Farnsworth) Tompkins. She was one of 4 children.
She grew up in and attended school in Goodland through the 11th grade. She later went on and completed her GED, and then attended school in Wichita to become a horticulturist. Vickie loved horses Kitten and Molly, and was a horsewoman for over 15 years. She was very active in the Prairie Dusters and Little Britches Rodeos in barrel racing, pole bending trail course and goat tying. Vickie loved the outdoors, including fishing and was a fabulous horticulturist. Her “children” were her animals-dogs, Delilah, Max, Blue and Winnie and her cats, Boomer, Ace, Angel and Queenie.
Preceding her in death were her father Augustus “Tommy”, sister Diana Daugherty, father-in-law Floyd Ancell, and her grandparents Hoyt and Lola Tompkins and Sumner and Gladys Farnsworth.
She is survived by her husband Floyd Stevens of Pueblo West, Colorado; Mother Viola Tompkins of Goodland, Brother Michael Tompkins of Goodland, Sister Valerie Kaup and Wayne Sparks of Sydney, Nebraska, Step Son Jared Stevens of Orlando, Florida, her in-laws Tommy and Joy Collins of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Sister-in-Law’s Debra (Mitchell), Carla, Tammy (Lee), and Nellie (Don) of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
