El Dorado, Kansas resident Troy D. Butts, 48, loving husband and father, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 8, 2013, as a result of long-term health complications associated with a spinal injury in 1986.
He was born on July 29, 1964, in Goodland, Kansas, the son of Neil and Barbara Butts. He started working early on his family farm until he was eighteen, then he went on to work side by side with his mom and brother Tony, sacking groceries at Bogart’s in Goodland, where he moved up in the ranks to become a meat market manager in El Dorado.
He earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Butler Community College, became a design draftsman, and later, a CAD professor at his alma mater. He married his high school sweetheart Pam Beem in 1982 and she cared for him in sickness and in health, especially when he was no longer able to work.
Preceding him in death were his father Neil Butts, who died in 1999; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Surviving family includes his loving wife Pam Butts, son Timothy and his wife Sara, and dog Sophie, all of El Dorado; mother Barbara Butts of Goodland; siblings Mike Butts and his wife Becky of Stella, Missouri; Rod Butts and his wife Suzie of Goodland; Patty Mills of Colorado; Tony Butts and his wife Michelle of Colby; and their families.
The funeral will be Saturday, February 16, at 2:30 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with burial following in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects at Koons Chapel on Saturday, from 1:30 PM MT until the service.
