On Friday, January 1, 2021, Tara Lyn Mull, loving wife, and mother of three children, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 46.
Tara was born on February 7, 1974 in Wichita, KS to Terry and Wilma (Haug) Pfannenstiel, the oldest of two children, followed by her brother, Brian. Tara grew up in Goodland and would graduate from Goodland High School in 1992. She received her Master’s in Special Education from Fort Hays State University in 1997. On July 26, 1997, she married her high school sweetheart, Devlin Mull. Together they have three sons, Brandt, Brock, and Braylon.
Tara’s teaching career started with a special education position at Wittier Elementary in Salina, KS. In 1998, Tara and Dev returned to their hometown in Goodland, KS, where she would go on to teach for 22 years, becoming a treasured pillar to all her students and coworkers.
Anyone who knew Tara would describe her as selfless, determined, protective, funny, and someone that could light up a room. She possessed beautiful blue eyes that expressed her care and love for others. She was the kind of person who put everyone else before herself.
Her ideal evening would include watching the Colorado Rockies with family and friends. A cold beer in her hand, her beloved dog, Lucy, on her lap, cherishing quality time with those she loved most. She loved watching her sons play sports, and there wasn’t a game where you wouldn’t find her in the stands, eagerly cheering them on.
Tara was the definition of a fighter, and when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2017, she faced it with grace, courage, and strength. She was unwavering and resolute in her confrontation with cancer until the end. She will be remembered as a resilient, brave warrior, always prepared to take on new treatments, countless surgeries and more, to be able to be there for her family.
Tara is preceded in death by her father, Terry Pfannenstiel, grandparents, Harold Pfannenstiel, and Russell and Fern Haug. She is survived by her husband, Devlin Mull, children, Brandt, Brock and Braylon Mull, mother, Wilma Pfannenstiel, brother, Brian Pfannenstiel (Susan), grandmother, Berniece Pfannenstiel and mother and father-in-law, Jim and Sheri Mull.
