Sherry W Monroe, aged 69, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado. Born on December 8, 1954 in Flagler, Colorado, Sherry dedicated much of her life to her family and community, embodying the virtues of faith, generosity, and love.
A lifelong resident of Stratton, Colorado, Sherry graduated from Stratton High School in 1973. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked various jobs including waiting tables at the local restaurant, serving as a Baby Bear Hugs home visitor from 1993 to 2001, and most recently welcoming visitors at the Colorado Welcome Center from 2021 until her passing.
Sherry was a devout member of the Stratton Church of God. Her faith played a significant role in her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. She was known for her giving spirit and her involvement in numerous community activities.
Beyond her community service, Sherry enjoyed spending quality time with her family, bowling, working in her yard, cheering on her grandchildren at school and sports events, playing bingo, fostering rescue animals, and embarking on various adventures.
Sherry is survived by her daughters, Shelley (Robert) Wink of Hallam, NE, and Stacey (Matt) Cross of Stratton, CO; grandchildren, Bailey (Hannah) Wink, Levi (Courtney) Shean, Skylar (Abbey) Phillips, Machenzy (Trevor) Bjerke, Michayla (Gerry) Baca, and Zane Cross; great-grandchildren, Slade Phillips, Charlotte Bjerke, Echo and Antonio Baca; sister-in-law, Karen Monroe; brother, Hal (Shannon) Reeder; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence Reeder; her husband, Everett “Bud” Monroe; her sister, Sheryl Brown; her brother, Allen Reeder; and infant grandchildren, baby Wink and Preston Matthew Cross.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eastern Plains Animal Welfare Alliance (EPAWA), an organization close to Sherry’s heart due to her love for animals and commitment to their well-being. Sherry’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her, and may be sent to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
