Roger Zielke

December 19, 1942 — February 26, 2016

Casper, Wyoming resident Roger Tim Zielke, 73, passed away February 26, 2016, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Tim was born December 19, 1942, at St. Francis, Kansas, the son of Vera Ardis (Nicholson) and Arthur Zielke.  He graduated from Sherman Community High School in Goodland with the class of 1961, and also graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in Hays, Kansas.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on the family farm.  He had a passion for old cars and making them run.  One of his challenges was raising mink.

On June 14, 1969, he and Lenna Loyce Woods were married at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, Kansas.  After receiving his degree in Agriculture Business, he worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Montrose, Colorado.  He was in range management and transferred with the government to Casper, Wyoming.  In the 1980s, he became employed by the Bureau of Reclamation, where he worked in procurement.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Ted, and nephew Jeff.

Surviving family includes his wife Lenna Zielke of Casper, Wyoming; sister-in-law Phyllis Zielke of Goodland; sister-in-law Phyllis Holtman and her husband Art of Hickory Corners, Michigan.

The graveside service will be on Thursday, March 3, at 2:00 PM MT, at the Goodland Cemetery, with Pastor Lyn Linde officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Northwest Kansas Animal Shelter, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
