Rodney Jarrett

Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Rodney R. Jarrett, 73, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his home.

Rodney was born January 14, 1941, in Goodland, Kansas, the son of Nellie Faye (Snelling) and Clarence Jarrett.  He grew up in Goodland and graduated from Sherman Community High School with the class of 1959.

On August 12, 1962, he and Carole Peter were married at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.  After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in business, he began working for the S.T. Jarrett Insurance Agency in Burlington, Colorado.  In 1963, he began working with State Farm Insurance Regional Office in Greeley, Colorado.  In 1965, they moved back to Goodland and he opened his own accounting and insurance business, which he was still operating.

His memberships included Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Goodland Elks Lodge 1528, and Sugar Hills Golf Club.  He loved golf, old cars, and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren, and new great-grandson.

Preceding him in death were his parents and in-laws Albert and Esther Peter.

Surviving family includes his wife Carole Jarrett of the home; children Jodi Miller and her husband Mike of Goodland; Rhonda Anshutz and her husband Brian of Seward; Scott Jarrett and his wife Tanya of Goodland; six grandchildren Matt Miller and his wife Janelle; Andrew Miller, Nash Jarrett, and Keyly Jarrett, all of Goodland; BreAnn Anshutz and BrayLynn Anshutz, both of Seward; and great-grandson Braden Miller of Goodland.

The funeral will be Monday, April 7, at 10:30 AM MT, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland, with Pastor Darian Hybl officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Friends may share their respects on Sunday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.

Memorials may be designated to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church or to donor's choice, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
