Lifelong Goodland, Kansas resident Robert J. ‘Bob’ Rhoads, 72, died Monday, November 17, 2014, at Goodland Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 22, 1942, at Goodland, Kansas, the son of Thelma Beatrix (Shepherd) and Joseph Robert Rhoads. He graduated from high school in Goodland with the class of 1961, and then he furthered his education at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. He worked as a mechanic in several local businesses.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister Julie.
Surviving family includes brother Jim Rhoads and his wife Carole of Harviell, Missouri; aunt Annette Scroggs and her husband Bill of Warrensburg, Missouri; and several cousins, among them: Chuck Ihrig of Goodland; Caroline Pettibone and her husband Gordon of Goodland; Pat Pickett and her husband James of Olathe; Mark Rhoads and his wife Lori of Lake Lure, North Carolina; Bill Rhoads and his wife Dorene of Nevada, Missouri; Mike Rhoads and his wife Alicia of Liberal; Iva Lee Stephens and her husband Dale of Goodland; Lucille McCall of Goodland; Elaine Schwendener and her husband Don of Goodland.
The graveside service will be on Saturday, November 22, at 1:00 PM MT, at the Goodland Cemetery, with Pastor Brian Fugleberg officiating. Burial will be in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Saturday, from 11:00 AM MT until Noon, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
Memorials may be designated to Northwest Kansas Area Medical Foundation, Sherman County Community Foundation, or Northwest Tech Endowment Foundation, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
