Lifelong Cheyenne and Sherman County, Kansas Opal Alice Seaman, 96, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland, Kansas.
She was born May 30, 1918, at St. Francis, Kansas, the daughter of Alma Ellen (Nicodemus) and Newton F. Dayton. She graduated with the class of 1936 from St. Francis High School.
On June 15, 1941, she and William S. Seaman were married at Lawnridge Church in Cheyenne County, and they made their home in Cheyenne County. In 1946, they moved to Sherman County. Her memberships included First Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Goodland Chapter 122. She worked in the local office of the United States Department of Agriculture.
Preceding her in death were her husband William, who died in December of 1983; one daughter Cherry Beth; her parents; two sisters Faye and Pearl; and one brother Max.
Surviving family includes son Marvin L. Seaman and his wife Charlene of Goodland; son Bryan Seaman and his wife Kari of Wichita; daughter Dawn Call and her husband Jim of Asheville, North Carolina; son Mark Seaman and his wife Shirley of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; and three grandchildren Eric, Linda and Troy.
The funeral will be Wednesday, May 27, at 1:00 PM MT, at First Christian Church in Goodland, with Pastor Chris Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects Tuesday, May 26, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
Memorials may be designated to the First Christian Church, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
