Longtime Weskan, Kansas resident, O.D. Mote, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Wallace County Community Care Center in Sharon Springs.
O.D. was born March 22, 1936 in Vernon, Texas to Oris Dee Mote and Pearl Cooper Mote Cline. He was the youngest of four children.
When O.D. was a child, the family moved to Weskan, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated from Weskan High School in 1955. O.D. served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. On May 26, 1957, O.D. married Janice Lynn Collins in Weskan. To this union, four children, Kelly, Tracy, Stephanie and Sandy were born.
O.D. worked most of his life as a famer and later as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed camping, boating, casinos, guns, knives and reloading gun shells.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Janice and a granddaughter Darcy Miller.
He is survived by his children; Kelly (Randy) Tipton of Weskan, KS, Tracy (JoAnn) Mote of Weskan, KS, Stephanie Rinehart and Ruben Orozco of Sharon Springs, KS, and Sandy (Sean) Miller of Kanorado, KS. He is also survived by brother Thamer Mote of Weskan, KS, sister Hazel (Verdell) Young of Tribune, KS and brother Wallace (Doris) Mote of Sharon Springs, as well as 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
