Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Natividad Vasquez, Sr., 78, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Thornton, Colorado.
He was born August 7, 1935, at Cesthowa, Texas, the son of Dulcinella (Apobaca) and Jose M. Vasquez. On October 25, 1954, he and Maria Jesus Vasquez were married at the Catholic Church in Tahoka, Texas. In 1970, they moved from Tahoka to Goodland, Kansas, to make their home. He had worked on area farms and also for Unified School District 352 in Goodland as a custodian. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Preceding him in death were his son Richard Vasquez; and infant daughter Melinda Vasquez; parents; brother Raymond Vasquez; and sisters Juanita Cantu and Adelina Reyes.
Surviving family includes daughter Janie Juarez of Plainview, Texas; son Raul Vasquez and his wife Susan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Joe Vasquez and his wife Becky of Ottawa; Maria Gomez of Greeley, Colorado; Dulcinella Fyfe and her husband Dennis of Goodland; Natividad Vasquez, Jr. and his wife Kerri of Goodland; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters Maria Gutierrez of Tahoka, Texas; and Virginia Lara of Tahoka, Texas; and half-brother John Molinas of New Mexico.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 17, at 10:00 AM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with vigil and rosary to follow at 6:30 PM MT.
Memorials may be designated to Natividad Vasquez, Sr. Memorial, and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
