Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Mona K. McGinley, 77, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016.
She was born February 3, 1939, at Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Nell Francis (Frye) and George Keith Winter. She graduated from Kanorado High School in Kanorado, Kansas, with the class of 1956. She attended Fort Hays State Teachers College in Hays, Kansas.
On February 9, 1979, she and F. L. ‘Mac’ McGinley were married at the Sherman County Courthouse in Goodland. She had retired from her work as a Senior Vice-President and Trust Officer at First National Bank in Goodland. Her memberships included Order of Eastern Star #122, Sugar Hills Golf Club, and Goodland Elks Lodge #1528 auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband F. L. ‘Mac’ McGinley, and brother Max K. Winter.
Surviving family includes her daughter Dana Olsen of Keller, Texas; her son Devon Turley and his wife Stephanie of Spring Hill, Kansas ;and four grandchildren Delaney Winter Olsen, Dylan Scott Olsen, Hayden Keith Turley, and Rowan MacKenzie Turley. Also surviving is sister-in-law Donna Winter of Denver, Colorado.
The memorial service will be Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Pastor Gordon Pettibone officiating.
Friends may share their respects on Saturday, April 2, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.
Memorials may be designated to Hospice Services of Sherman County or to Northwest Kansas Animal Shelter, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
