Longtime Goodland, KS resident, Mary Lou Peter Tracy, 83, passed away on October 9, 2020 at the Topside Manor in Goodland.
She was born on August 20, 1937 to Edwin M. Peter and Jean (Hamlin) Peter in Goodland, KS. She graduated from Goodland High School in 1955 and moved to a trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue a career as a lab and radiology technician.
She was first married in February of 1957. To this marriage, there were two children born; Terry Lee and Stacey. They all lived in Wellington, KS where she worked in her lab and radiology technician profession for many years.
In July of 1973, Mary Lou was remarried to Bobby Tracy for 26 years. After living in southeastern Kansas, they moved back to her hometown of Goodland, KS to be near her daughter Terry and family, and closer to her son Stacey and his family who live in Colorado. In April of 1999, her husband Bobby lost his life to lung cancer.
Mary Lou was involved in the Moose Lodge for many years. She enjoyed playing 4 point pitch, and was on a dart team. Many friends young and old remember her from this. She also enjoyed as she called it, Country and Western music, along with the oldies from the 50’s music. She especially liked to dance to the slow Country Western music. She was also very active as a great grandmother, and even helped with daycare of the 2 oldest.
In 2010, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and put up a good fight to the end. Ultimately, Covid-19 took her to be with her family and friends in Heaven.
Preceding her in death were her parents Edwin and Jean Peter, her husband Bobby Tracy, a sister Judy Peter Berringer and a brother-in-law William Berringer.
She is survived by her children; daughter Terry Lee Twombly (William) of Goodland, KS and son Stacey Harding of Highlands Ranch, CO. Five grandchildren, Michelle Wear, Sabrina Thompson (Aaron) of Goodland, KS, Ashley, Megan and Grant Harding, all of Denver, CO; seven great grandchildren, Aaron Twombly, Alyssa Wear, Ashton Erhart and Olivia Erhart, all of Goodland, KS, Kaitlin Thompson of Hays, KS, Kameron Snyder of Twin Falls, ID and Danielle Snyder of San Diego, CA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
