Longtime Kanorado, KS resident Marvin Eugene Thomas Sr., 65, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at his home in Kanorado. He was born November 7, 1956 in Burlington Colorado to Lois L. and Kenneth L. Thomas.
Marvin was a member of the Lions Club in Kanorado, Kansas for several years, on the Sherman County Rural Fire Department for 18 years, and a First Responder with the Sherman County Ambulance Service for 5 years.
Marvin attended school in Burlington and graduated from the Burlington High School with the class of 1975.
On August 19, 1977 Marvin married Frances (Frankie) Adams in the Kanorado United Methodist Church. Two sons were born from this marriage, Marvin E Thomas Jr. of Kanorado, and Marshall A Thomas of Dallas TX.
Marvin worked from the time he was a kid starting at a young age delivering Milk door to door on the back of the Milk truck, he worked as a young man at Chuck’s Husky Gas station Burlington Co. he worked at the Howdy Partner Drive in doing dishes and cooking, Marvin worked for his soon to be Father in-law Roofing, worked picking up trash, and had his own trash business in Kanorado for several years, and Larry’s IGA Goodland Kansas, and went to work at the Kanorado Coop for 17 years as a gas station attendant, he worked farming jobs for several farmers in Colorado and around Kanorado, worked at Kit Carson County Correctional Burlington Colorado, he also worked for years for Coke a Cola Distribution Center in Goodland KS stocking Stores from Burlington, Colorado, Goodland, Kansas, to Colby, Kansas. In 2008 Marvin became sick and was disabled.
Marvin never lost his love for caring for people and helping anyone he could. He always checked in on 4 or 5 elderly people and did what he could for them. He loved playing Pool, going to car shows with the mannequins better known as the girls, doing Magic Tricks, working on his home, Woodwork, Yard Work, Fixing tires for people, helping people work on things, helping stranded people on the highway, and working on his 65 chevy. The most prominent thing that everyone will remember is how honest, and caring person he was, and how he always gave his all to help his Family and Friends, and his love for people.
In December 2018 Marvin was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer, over a 3 year period, he did 3 rounds of chemo, 1 round of radiation, and 12 rounds of Keytruda, he also did freezing and dilation of the esophagus every 4 to 6 weeks over the 3 year period, where he chose to stop all treatments and live life to the fullest. He was diagnosed with bone cancer in March of 2022 and the prognosis was not good.
Marvin is survived by his wife Frankie of Kanorado, sons Marvin E Thomas Jr. of Kanorado and Marshall A Thomas (Melanie) of Dallas TX, a brother Kenneth D. Thomas of Burlington CO, and 2 grandchildren Austin E. Thomas, and Abigail N. Thomas both from Delta Colorado, 2 brother in-laws Robert M. Adams (Robin) Greeley Colorado, and David T. Adams Jr of Kanorado, 3 Sister in-laws Sharon K. Mullis of Greeley Colorado, Kathy L. Campbell (Craig) Peoria Ill, and Wanda L. Fralick (Phil) of Kanorado, many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and countless family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, paternal and maternal grandparents, and numerous uncles and aunts.
