Lifelong Sherman County, Kansas resident Marvin D. Duell, 82, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg.
He was born July 31, 1931, at Ruleton, Kansas, the son of Irene (Collins) and Carl A. Duell. He attended rural grade school and then graduated with the class of 1950 from Sherman Community High School in Goodland.
On June 8, 1952, he and Bonnie Lou Hurd were married at the Methodist Church in Goodland. They made their home in Sherman County, where they farmed. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and he served on the Rural Goodland Fire Department Board and on the Ruleton School Board.
Preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving family includes his wife Bonnie L. Duell of Goodland; two sons Steven Duell and his wife Colleen of Goodland; Stanley Duell and his wife Julie of Lindsborg; four grandchildren Brandy Felzien and her husband Brent of Salina; Chamra Gronau and her husband Ken of El Dorado; Aaron Duell of Goodland; Adam Duell of Goodland; two great-grandchildren Brenna Felzien and Brielle Felzien; brother Don Duell and his wife Eloise of Englewood, Colorado; sister Elaine Pankratz and her husband Emery of Hawthorne, California; brother Dennis Duell and his wife Orpha of Wichita; sister Norma Gramzow and her husband Bob of Goodland; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday, September 11, at 10:00 AM MT, at the First United Methodist Church in Goodland, with Reverend Dustin Petz officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Tuesday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
Memorials may be designated to Bethany Home in Lindsborg or to the Goodland Volunteer Fire Department, and may be left at the services, or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
