Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Marlin LeRoy Roeder, 82, died Friday, September 18, 2015, in Goodland at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County.
He was born January 18, 1933, in Norton County, Kansas, the son of Violet Florence Evelyn (Hawks) and Paul August Roeder. He attended a one-room school in Sherman County, and graduated from Sherman Community High School in Goodland with the class of 1950.
On April 18, 1961, he and Dorothy Mae Smith were married at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland, and they made their home together in Goodland. He had worked in the maintenance department of Unified School District 352. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge 1528.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers Ronald Roeder and Dean Roeder.
Surviving family includes his wife Dorothy M. Roeder of Goodland; three children Alan L. Roeder of Denver, Colorado; Rodney D. Roeder and his wife Kimberly of Goodland; Marla M. Kerrigan and her husband Wesley of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren Jared Williams, Kayla Williams, Andrea (Roeder) Tacha, Melinda Holmes, Miranda Holmes, Malissa Holmes, Fallon Kerrigan, Auberry Kerrigan; seven great-grandchildren; sister Jean Elder and her husband Duane of Sharon Springs; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.
The funeral will be Tuesday, September 22, at 11:00 AM MT, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland, with Pastor Darian Hybl officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Monday, September 21, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
