Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Margie May Albers, 88, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at her home.
She was born October 23, 1926, in Duke, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ola (Comer) and Ivan Jewell Dean.
On October 23, 1946, she and Vinton L. Albers were married, and they made their home in Lamar, Colorado, later moving to Goodland.
After she retired from her employment as a cook with USD 352, she earned her GED on March 1, 1981.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Vinton Albers, who died December 30, 1985; son Steve Albers; grandson Chris Albers; brothers Lloyd, Art, and Gerald; and sisters Era Elizabeth, Dorothy Jewell, and Eileen.
Surviving family includes her children Janice Horney of Gardner; Jim Albers and his wife Erlene of Colby; Bill Albers and his wife Eve of Flagler, Colorado; Roger Albers and his wife Judy of Owasso, Oklahoma; Judy Kennedy of Alamogordo, New Mexico; Don Albers and his wife Karen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Ken Albers and his wife Lisa of Wichita; Dee Albers and his wife Monica of Denver, Colorado; Brenda Fisher and her husband Gary of Goodland; Kevin Albers of Torrington, Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Juanita Fell of Goodland; Leta V. Best of Des Moines, Iowa; Edith Ashworth of Union, Kentucky; and Farris Dean of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 13, at 1:00 PM MT, at the First United Methodist Church in Goodland, with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Monday, from 6:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.
