Lifelong Goodland, Kansas resident Marcia K. Way, 61, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Goodland Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 7, 1953, at Goodland, the daughter of Mary M. (Weis) and Leonard L. Elliott. She attended grade school through the fifth grade at Ruleton, and then graduated from Goodland High School with the class of 1971.
On June 24, 1972, she and Curtis W. Way were married at Goodland, where they made their home. Beginning in May of 1973, she worked for Rodney Jarrett Insurance for twenty years. On November 1, 1994, she started working with the Goodland Housing Authority, and in April of 1999, she began serving as its executive director, working there for over nineteen years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, enjoyed sports of all kinds, and especially loved being with her family.
Preceding her in death was her father. Surviving family includes her husband Curtis Way of Goodland; son Darren M. Way of Goodland; son Jason Way and his wife Rocio of Arvada, Colorado; four grandchildren Samantha, Esteban, Annika, and Alora; mother Mary Elliott of Goodland; and sister Carol Colby and her husband Kim of Assaria.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 AM MT, at Harvest Evangelical Free Church, at Goodland, with Pastor Brian Fugleberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Friday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be designated to American Diabetes Association, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
