Lucille Fenner

Lifelong Sherman County, Kansas resident Lucille Marie (Watkins) Fenner, 86, died Thursday, December 31, 2015.
She was born January 22, 1929, at Brewster, Kansas, the daughter of Ida Idella (Thompson) and Guy Leslie Watkins.  She attended New Hope School in Brewster and Sherman Community High School in Goodland.

On May 22, 1949, she and Kenneth Elroy Fenner were married at Goodland, Kansas.  She worked at Nitz’ Drug Store from 1961 until the business closed in 1974.  Then she worked at Model Laundry until they closed in 1986.  Later, she worked for the Puppet Factory and the Cowboy Loop, before her retirement.   Her memberships included the First Baptist Church, and in the 1960s and 1970s, she was a member of an Extension Homemaker’s Unit.

Preceding her in death were her husband Elroy Fenner, who died April 13, 2005; grandson Daniel Moore; brothers Ray Watkins, Merle Watkins, Leslie Watkins, Glenn Watkins; sisters Ethel Watkins, Lottie Dillinger, and Mildred Bradley.
Surviving family includes two sons Dale Fenner and his wife Carlene; Dennis Fenner  and his wife Shelly; daughter Debra Wassemiller and her husband Roy, all of Goodland; ten grandchildren Shea Fenner of Afton, Oklahoma; Kelly Fenner and Jessica English-Zabenco of Wentzville, Missouri; Michelle Rounsley and her husband Kim of Hays; Amanda Mills and her husband Paul of Santa Maria, California; Erica Mason and her husband Kerek of Newton; Travis Fenner; Dana Appelhans and her husband Mike, all of Blue Springs, Missouri; Amber Berndt and her husband Dallas of Goodland; Ivy Wendt and her husband Bret of Burlington, Colorado; Levi Wassemiller and his wife Brooke of Goodland; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister Ida Mae Murray of Dodge City; sisters-in-law Alice Watkins of Ogallala, Nebraska; Vola Fenner of Goodland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, January 6, at 2:00 PM MT, at the First Baptist Church in Goodland, with Pastor Rich Blanchette officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Friends may share their respects one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be designated to the Lucille Fenner Memorial, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
