Lifelong Goodland, KS resident Linda Lou Fogo, 83, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Wheat Ridge Acres in Goodland with her family at her side.
Linda was born on July 22, 1937 to Buford Wayne and Helen Mae (Cullins) Hevner. She was one of four children. She was raised on the family farm and attended Western Star Country School in the early grades. She graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1955.
On November 24, 1955, Linda was united in marriage to George R. “Bud” Fogo. In May of 1956, Bud was inducted into the US Army and spent his basic training at Fort Ord, California. In October of the same year, Bud was transferred to Germany. In 1957, Linda sailed to Germany aboard the S.S. Amsterdam, where the couple spent the remainder of their time living in the small West German community of Haibach.
In 1958, they returned to Goodland, where Bud started working for the Rock Island Railroad and Linda became a housewife raising a family and taking care of their four children; Sheryl, Debra, Kelly and Jacque. Linda was part of the Sherman County Century Family.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, CWF and was a faithful American Red Cross Blood Donor. She was also a member of the Garden Club, and the Sherman County Historical Society. She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Denver Broncos, and loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She committed her life to caring for her husband, her parents and her children.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband George R. “Bud” Fogo, her brothers Rex Hevner and Gary Hevner, and a sister Connie Hevner Hammond.
She is survived by her four children; Sheryl (Frank) Linden of Goodland, Debra (Tony) Martin of Goodland, Kelly (Tera) Fogo of Centennial, Colorado and Jacque (Kendall) Cooper of Goodland. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren; Lindsey (Wes) Ludolph, Brandon (Amber) Linden, Abigail (Kenton) Keith, Emily (Kade) Bloom, Jesse Cooper, Tristan Cooper, Kylie Fogo, Kamdyn Fogo, and Kaelor Fogo, eleven great grandchildren, a brother-in-law Steve Hammond of Littleton, CO, and two sister-in-laws; Marie Hevner Kleine of Gulf Breeze, FL and Patricia Willoughby of Basehor, KS.
