Lelia Marie Norden Grauerholz passed away February 28, 2022 at the age of 99. She was born on March 8, 1922 to Henry (Hank) and Ida Norden. She attended grade school in a one room school one mile from the family farm south of Kensington.
She married Harold Grauerholz in a double wedding ceremony on June 27, 1943. Her brother, Floyd, married Anna Grauerholz in this ceremony as well.
After Harold’s return from the army, they farmed northwest of Kensington. She was active in the St. John Lutheran church. She was a member of the quilting ladies at this church for 70 years. She also taught Sunday school and grew flowers for the altar. Her spring and summer evenings were spent taking care of her flower garden.
Surviving family includes her children Eldon Grauerholz, from Cimarron, KS; Jo Ann (Joe) Wahrman from Goodland, KS, and Alan (Aggie) Grauerholz from Kensington, KS who still lives on the family homestead. Grandchildren, Bryan (Bonny) Grauerholz , and Scott Grauerholz from Kansas City, KS; John Grauerholz and Jared (Whitney) Grauerholz of Kensington, KS, and great grandchildren – Brooke, Bree and Henry Grauerholz.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Harold, her brothers Wilbur, Floyd and Donald, her sister-in-laws, Ester Norden and Anna Norden and Loretta Norden.
Memorial services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church, 708 N. Main in Kensington. Inurnment will take place in the Germantown Cemetery north of Kensington.
