Longtime Kanorado, Kansas resident Lallie Lou (Illers) Taylor, 88, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 20, 1926, at Kewanee, Missouri, the daughter of Mildread (Burford) and Herbert Illers. She attended high school at Jackson, Missouri, and graduated from Harris Teachers College in St. Louis, Missouri.
On July 25, 1948, she and William Paul Taylor were married at St. Louis, Missouri, and they made their home near Kanorado, where they enjoyed the friendship of many. She was the beloved mother of their five children, as well as serving as a substitute teacher. Lou was an avid reader, had the gift of hospitality, and greatly enjoyed her Uno group. She loved sewing and any art and craft activity. However, she did not discover her true gift and passion of quilting until she was in her forties. She made many beautiful and amazing quilts.
Her memberships included Calvary Gospel Church in Goodland.
Preceding her in death were her parents, step-mother Dorothy, and step-brother Gene.
Surviving family includes her loving husband of sixty-six years Paul Taylor of Kanorado, who faithfully and carefully cared for her as her health declined; five children Pam McIlnay and her husband Bob of Federal Way, Washington; Mike Taylor and his wife Jane of Roanoke, Texas; Robin Trammell and her husband Rocky of Valley Center; Mark Taylor of Kanorado; Wendy Crow and her husband David of Valley Center; six grandchildren Jami Harmon and her husband David, Chancey Taylor, Devin McIlnay, Matthew McIlnay, Noah Trammell, and Seth Trammell; one great-grandson Henry Roy Harmon.
The funeral will be Tuesday, May 5, at 1:00 PM MT, at Calvary Gospel Church in Goodland, with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Kanorado Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be designated to Hospice Services of Sherman County, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
