Longtime Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Leonard Orval "Sam" Samuelson, 92, died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.
He was born July 21, 1922, at Page City, Kansas, the son of Pearl (Caywood) and Andrew Peter Samuelson. The Samuelson family is of Swedish decent and Sam was incredibly proud of this heritage.
On October 22, 1950, he and Clemma Jean Hickle were married, and they made their home in Sharon Springs. He was a brakeman/conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, until his retirement in November of 1986.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two infant sisters; two sisters Beulah Long and Margaret Long; and two brothers Glen Samuelson and Wilbur Samuelson.
Surviving family includes two daughters Rona Langdon and her husband Everett of Sharon Springs; Linda Schroeder and her husband David of Aurora, Colorado; three sons Rodney Samuelson and his wife Pam of Sidney, Nebraska; Dale Samuelson and his wife Julie of Sharon Springs; Curtis Samuelson and his wife Judy of Littleton, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be announced at a later date.
