Lifelong Wallace, Kansas resident Kenny Schemm, 57, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.
Kenny was born August 27, 1956, in Tribune, the son of Mildred (Olson) and Dean Schemm. He attended grade school at Harrison Flats, graduated from Wallace County High School and furthered his education with an associate’s degree from Garden City Community College.
On May 20, 1980, Kenny and Dolores Becker were married at the Dinas Church. For the next 34 years, they worked the family farm in Wallace County growing corn, wheat, and other crops. Kenny enjoyed working cattle especially old-fashioned roping and “dragging calves to the fire.” He enjoyed spending time outdoors including fishing, hunting and spending time watching grandchildren ride horse-back. During cold weather, Kenny enjoyed woodworking, such as building scroll-work crosses, turned vases, and picture frames.
Surviving family includes his wife Dolores Schemm of Wallace; son Cole Schemm, his wife Sheena, and their son Nate, all of Fort Worth, Texas; son Justin Schemm, his wife Deanna, and their son Zeke, all of Goodland; parents Dean and Mildred Schemm of Wallace; brother Darrell Schemm and his wife Sandy of Wallace; brother Rodney Schemm and his wife Cynthia of Guymon, Oklahoma; and nieces and nephews.
The graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 2:00 PM MT, at the Wallace Cemetery. Reverend Shelly Petz will be providing the service. Inurnment will follow in the Wallace Cemetery.
