Colorado Springs, Colorado resident Kenneth Dean Townsend, 79, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
He was born October 8, 1936, at Goodland, Kansas, the son of Ola R. (Kenny) and Glenn R. Townsend. He graduated from Sherman Community High School with the class of 1954.
On October 2, 1954, he and Constance Caroline Mucklow were married at Raton, New Mexico, and they made their home in Sherman County where they farmed. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #1528. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in September of 1984.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant granddaughter Carrie Rae Elliott; two sisters Phyllis Maupin and her husband Ed; Janice Bunker and her husband Delmer; one brother Ray Townsend; two sons-in-law Tony Phlieger and Brian Walker; in-laws Lloyd Mucklow and Mable Mucklow Townsend.
Surviving family includes his wife Constance Caroline (Mucklow) Townsend of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven children Laural Belshe and her husband Dana of Goodland; Karen Phlieger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sherilyn Randolph and her husband Craig of Denver, Colorado; Dan Townsend of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kendra Whitaker of Dallas, Texas; Anita Studer and her husband Marvin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mike Townsend and his fiancé Mindy Johnson of Ottumwa, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren Kasi Elliott Stegall, Kent Elliott, Amy Ellingson, Nicholas Randolph, Lucas Randolph, Amanda Townsend, Ashleigh Townsend, Mikayla Townsend, Kristopher Walker, Amber Walker, Andrew Studer, Matthew Studer, Tara Studer, Trey Townsend, Jillian Townsend; twenty-two great-grandchildren Chase, Sophie, Zoe, Zaden, Logan, Addison, Wyatt, Malakai, Kingston, Monroe, Brooklynn, Brian, Baylee, Ken, Derrick, Tyra, Trey, Andre, Addison, Avery, Ayson, Maddox; and brother Leo Townsend and his wife Eunice of Goodland; and sister-in-law Eileen Townsend of Goodland.
The memorial service will be Saturday, April 16, at 11:00 AM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Pastor John Coumerilh officiating.
Friends may share their respects one hour prior to the service.
