Kenneth Donald Scofield

Kenneth “Kenny” Donald Scofield, 86, passed away at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland, Kansas on September 3, 2024. 

He was born on August 13, 1938 to Paul and Marion (Seaman) Scofield in Cheyenne Co, Kansas. Kenneth attended school in Goodland and graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1957. 

Kenneth served briefly in the United States Army. In 1961, due to his father’s failing health, he was Honorably Discharged and returned to help his parents on the farm. 

Kenneth was united in marriage to Carolyn Sprecker on February 3, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Goodland, KS. To this union they had two children Lori and Kent Scofield.

After retiring from farming in 1985, Kenneth went to work for Myers Oil Company in Goodland, working both the Main Street and Interstate locations. He served as attendant, servicing vehicles and delivered bulk fuel and propane to area farmers. In 1996, Kenneth went to work for Orscheln Farm and Home and briefly Tractor Supply until his retirement in February 2024.

Kenneth was a past Mason and served as a Master of the Goodland Masonic Lodge. He was also a past member of the Goodland Elks Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading books, and enjoyed his toy tractor collection.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Carolyn of Goodland, KS, his two children Lori Scofield of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Kent Scofield of Goodland, Kansas, his sister Patsy (Larry) McDermott of Plainville, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kenny Cooper of Hutchinson, Kansas and Krystal Cooper of Manhattan, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Marion Scofield, one brother Bob Scofield, his sisters Nadyne Stroyek and Barbara Carpenter.
