Keith Cook

December 29, 1927 — November 7, 2013

Lifelong Sherman and Cheyenne County, Kansas resident Keith Cook, 85, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland.

He was born December 29, 1927, at St. Francis, Kansas, the son of Viola (Hendrich) and James Cook.  He attended schools in St. Francis.  He served his country in the United States Army.

On June 4, 1950, he and Eula Ardis Mears were married at St. Francis.  He was a farmer and a farm equipment trader.  He especially enjoyed going to farm sales, as well as big band music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.  His memberships included Pleasant Home Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars—Lowell Coleman Post 1133.

Preceding him in death were his wife Eula; parents; sisters Rita Helen Schuricht and Jean Brenner; and brother Clifton Cook and Kendall Cook.

Surviving family includes son Brent Cook and his wife Deb of Edson; daughter Shelly Fenner and her husband Dennis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren Kim Doole and her husband Ryan of Edson; Ashley Case and her husband Derek of Wichita; Travis Fenner, his wife Chelsea, and their children Cameron, Kaz, Ty, Josephine and Juliet of San Antonio, Texas; Dana Appelhans, her husband Mike, and their children Braden and Avery of Blue Springs, Missouri.

The funeral will be Monday, November 11, at 10:00 AM MT, at Harvest
Evangelical Free Church in Goodland, with Pastor Perry Baird officiating.  Burial with military honors in the Goodland Cemetery will be private.

Friends may share respects on Sunday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.

Memorials may be designated to Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County or VFW Post 1133, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
