Lifelong Wallace, Kansas resident John Francis Lock, 93, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.
He was born on May 4, 1922, at Wallace, Kansas, the son of Rozella (Gardner) and Roy Irving Lock. He graduated from Wallace High School. From August of 1942 through October 1945, he served his country in the United States Navy aboard the battleship USS South Dakota.
On September 1, 1946, he and Lenetta Joye David were married at the family farm in Wallace, and they made their home in Wallace. He was the founder and longtime owner of John’s Electric, which was later named Lock’s Electric. His memberships included the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars—Jerome Dechant Post 6844, Sharon Springs Masonic Lodge 417, Shriners, and American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his infant son John David; parents Roy and Rozella Lock; siblings Clyde Lock, George Lock, Ellen King, and Ruth Rains; two infant siblings; and parents-in-law Walter and Loedisa David.
Surviving family includes his wife Lenetta J. Lock; son David Lock, both of Sharon Springs; daughter-in-law Stephanie Brock of Roy, New Mexico; daughter Loedisa Jo Petty, her husband Jerry of Manhattan, and their children: Amy (Petty) Glaves, her husband Scott, and their children Brigham and Brady, all of Clay Center; Tim Petty of Wamego; Alicia (Lock) Matson, her husband Brian and their son Jovin of Divide, CO; Zack Lock and his wife Becca of McPherson; sisters-in-law Ethel Kisner and Bernice David, both of Sharon Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, November 9, at 10:30 AM MT, at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs, with Pastor Duncan Iburri and Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Sunday, November 8, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM MT, at Koons Funeral Home in Sharon Springs.
