Longtime Wallace County, Kansas resident Jess Medina, 85, died Friday, October 3, 2014, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.
He was born June 6, 1929, in Yoder, Wyoming, the son of Maximina (Pinon) and Francisco Medina.
On September 22, 1951, he and Dolores Torres were married. He served in the United States Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter Celia Jane; brothers C.P., Frank, and Geraldo; sisters Antonia Hernandez, Carmen Salinas, Harriet Pena.
Surviving family includes four children Rita Smith and her husband Dennis of Weskan; Jess Medina, Jr. and his wife Carmen of Sublette; Sara Pletcher and her husband Gary of Great Bend; Norman Medina and his wife Cindy of Scott City; eleven grandchildren Heather Gage and her husband Jeff, Travis Smith, Michele Scocchera and her husband Bobby, Jayme Medina and his wife Lindsay, Erin Medina, Tyler Pletcher, Justin Medina and his wife Kristy, Jared Medina and his wife Glenda, Jennifer Medina, Steven Medina and his wife Leslie, and Audrey Medina; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The graveside memorial service will be Thursday, October 9, at 10:00 AM MT, at Weskan Cemetery in Weskan, Kansas, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding. Inurnment, with military honors, will be in the Weskan Cemetery.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be designated to Wallace County Ambulance Association or American Heart Association, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
