Former Belleville and Jennings, Kansas resident Jay L. Kump, 91, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland, Kansas
On February 21, 1922, he was born at Jennings, Kansas, the son of Ruth Esther and George Kump. He had graduated from high school and Bible college. From November 19, 1942 through February 6, 1946, he served his country in the United States Army. He had been a Methodist minister, serving from 1976 until 1982 with the Hardtner and Hazelton churches, and then from 1982 through 1987 with the Brewster and Winona churches, retiring in 1987.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife Ma’hee Kump.
Surviving family includes sons Richard and William; brother Virgil Kump and his wife Dorothy of Belleville; and three nieces.
The funeral will be on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 10:00 AM Mountain Time, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Pastor Dustin Petz officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, April 15, at 3:00 PM Central Time, at the Jennings Cemetery, with Pastor Barbara Patterson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow.
