Lifelong Weskan, Kansas resident Janice Lynn Mote, 73, died Wednesday November 21, 2012 at the Sharon Springs Community Care Center, Sharon Springs, Kansas.
Jan was born July 22, 1939 in Weskan, to Alta Lucy (Cambridge) and Howard Collins. She attended and graduated from Weskan High School in 1957.
On May 26, 1957, Jan was united in marriage to O.D. Mote at the United Methodist Church in Weskan.
She worked for Weiner’s Food Store, for the Weskan Schools in the lunch room and with O.D. as a an over the road truck driver.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Darcy Lynn Miller, and a sister Phyllis Hurley.
Those left to cherish Jan’s memory are her husband, of fifty-five years, O.D., her children Kelly Tipton and husband Randy, Tracy Mote and wife Jo Ann, Stephanie Rinehart and her husband Ruban Orozco, all of Weskan, Kansas. Sandy Miller and husband Sean of Goodland. Also surviving are her sister Linda Simons and her husband Ron of Weskan and brother Skip Collins of Osage City, Kansas. She is survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday November 26, 2012 at 10:00 Am MT at the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church, Sharon Springs, Kansas. Pastor Tim Cress and Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Weskan Cemetery. Weskan, Kansas.
A memorial fund is being established in Jan’s name to the Weskan Community Improvement Asscoiation, and may be left at the service or sent to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, Kansas 67735.
