Janet Marie (Dosland) Krause, born March 2nd 1957 in Glendale, CA, passed away peacefully at her home in Idalia, Colorado on February 27, 2025. She was comfortable and surrounded by her family.
Janet was known by several names: Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Gram, Friend, RN, and the “Boss”. She dedicated her life to her family and loved nothing more than her home to be filled with loved ones. Janet’s favorite activities were with family and friends: summer evenings at the fire pit in the “bug free zone”, sunny pool days with grandchildren, DIY home projects, antique restoration, and enjoying the company of those she loved.
Janet met her husband Tim while attending the University of North Dakota. They were united in marriage in December of 1978 and moved to Idalia in the spring of ‘79. Tim and Janet just celebrated their forty-sixth wedding anniversary.
Janet was well-known for serving those in need. She served the community as a registered nurse for 30 years at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital and 4 years at Grace Manor. During this time, she made lifelong friendships and earned the reputation of being an outstanding nurse who was caring, reliable, and constant. She would go the extra mile to ensure her patients had the best possible care and in doing so touched the lives of all she met. Beyond her care for humans, Janet also had an undeniably huge heart for animals. If there was ever an animal in need of a home, Janet would either find one for them or take them into her own.
In the fall of 2009, Janet was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma and began her fight with cancer. For 15 years Janet showed us all just how tough and resilient a person can be, all the while remaining the rock of her family showing an upbeat and positive attitude. Even through her hardest battles, Janet continuously brought joy and love to each day.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Thormon Dosland, and many beloved pets. She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Krause; her children, Matthew (Carrie) Krause, Benjamin Krause, and Sarah (Marcus) Bish; her grandchildren, Zoey and Zane Krause, and Caroline and Harper Bish; her mother, Alice Dosland; her siblings, Doug (Margaret) Dosland and Patty (Brad) Wagner; and many nieces, nephews, pets, and close family friends.
Rather than holding funeral services, Janet chose to donate her body to medical research. Even in death, she continues to help future generations of doctors and nurses to advance the world of medicine and the treatment of Osteosarcoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Eastern Plains Animal Welfare Alliance in Burlington, Colorado and may be sent to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
