Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Janice J. McClelland, 76, died Monday, November 10, 2014, in Goodland at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County.

She was born October 19, 1938, at Brewster, Kansas, the daughter of Jessie (Duncan) and Kenneth Desmond “Ted” Smith.  Her preschool days were spent in Colby, Kansas, and then in late 1940’s, her family moved to St. Francis, Kansas, where she continued her education.

On December 2, 1958, she and Jim McClelland were married, and they made their home west of Goodland, where they farmed.  They also owned and operated McClelland Cycle Sales, a Yamaha motorcycle dealership in Goodland, and they were awarded recognitions for their outstanding sales and service from the Yamaha Corporation.  During this time, their three children were born:  Jimmy, Tammy, and Rhonda.

Later, after her divorce, she worked at the Goodland Regional Medical Center, where her compassionate and caring ways were very much appreciated.

In 1974, Janice and Ray Lalicker became a loving couple.  They enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, and also camping on the Smoky River.
On August 3, 2012, she and Ray Lalicker celebrated their love with marriage vows.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband ex-Jim McClelland; and son Jimmy McClelland.

Surviving family includes her husband Ray Lalicker of Goodland; children Tammy Barnes of Goodland; Rhonda Skrdlant and her husband Dale of Alliance, Nebraska; Ray Lalicker and his wife Jamie of Goodland; Dewayne Lalicker and his wife Lori of Goodland; and Monty Lalicker and his longtime friend Casey of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Gordon Smith and his wife Judy of Greeley, Colorado; sister Joyce Peak and her husband Carl of Castle Rock, Colorado; and many friends.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, November 15, at 2:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Pastor Randy Payne officiating.
Memorials may be designated to Hospice Services of Sherman County, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
