Longtime Goodland, KS resident Irma Lee Osborn, 92, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Topside Manor in Goodland.
Irma was born on March 31, 1928 in White City, Kansas to Irvin and LaVella Simonton. When she was in elementary school, the family moved to Manhattan, KS where she graduated from Manhattan High School in 1946.
After high school, she moved to Dallas, TX to pursue her dream of being and Airline Stewardess, but because she didn’t meet the height requirement, she worked in the office of Delta Airlines. After a year, she was homesick and moved back to Manhattan. She attended Kansas State University, where she met the man of her dreams. Edgar (Ozzie) and Irma were married in Manhattan on June 7, 1953 at the Methodist Church.
Irma spent all of her married life in Goodland, KS. Her passion was music. She owned Osborn Music Studio for 20 years where she taught many students piano, organ and guitar lessons. She was the pianist and organist for the Goodland United Methodist Church for many years. She was also the junior choir director for many years. Irma played for many wedding over the years as well.
Irma and Ozzie were avid K-State fans. They were season ticket holders to football and basketball at KSU for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on January 3, 2013, and a brother-in-law Cliff Hoskinson.
She is survived by her children Chuck Osborn of Grants, New Mexico, Loretta (Michael) Borgmann of Goodland, KS, and Melinda Strickland of Denver, CO; her grandchildren Blake (Anais) Osborn, Jessica Osborn and Devinee Borgmann. She is also survived by one sister Barbara Hoskinson of Parker, CO And a brother Calvin (Dorothy) Simonton of Kirkland, WA.
Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the Goodland Cemetery.
