Lifelong Sherman County, Kansas resident Helen Jean (Emig) Tellessen, 86, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in Goodland at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County.
She was born May 24, 1929, in Goodland, the daughter of Helen (Murray) and George Fredrick Emig. She attended rural schools in Sherman County, and then meeting a challenge to complete graduation requirements in three years, she graduated from Sherman Community High School with the class of 1946.
On February 24, 1951, she and Lawrence Edward Tellessen were married at the First Christian Church in Goodland, and they made their home in Goodland.
Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence Tellessen, who died November 5, 1976; her parents; two brothers George Fredrick “JR” Emig and Eddie Emig; two grandchildren infant Tammy Moore and Daniel Moore.
Surviving family includes son Ron Tellessen and his wife Ramona of Mexico; daughter Carlene Fenner and her husband Dale of Goodland; daughter Eileen Hockett and her husband Rick of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 8 grandchildren Chief Petty Officer Lawrence Hockett, US Navy; Ryan Hockett; Jeremy Hockett; Michelle Rounsley and her husband Kim; Amanda Mills and her husband Paul; Erica Mason and her husband Kerek; Shea Fenner; Kelly Fenner; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Friday, June 26, at 2:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Pastor Randy Payne and Pastor Darrell Scmid officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share respects one hour prior to the service at Koons Chapel.
