Longtime Sharon Springs, KS resident, Helen Mabel Lucas, 87, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Topside Manor in Goodland, KS.
Helen was born on April 12, 1932 to Lester and Mabel (Hetzel) Johnson. She was an only child. She attended school as Wallace County High School in Sharon Springs and graduated in 1950.
On December 31, 1951, she married Daniel Wade Lucas in Raton, New Mexico. To this union, two children Rochelle and Mike were born.
Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time working in her flower gardens, sewing and fishing. She was a member of the High Plains Baptist Church in Sharon Springs, as well as the Elks Lodge.
Preceding her in death were parents, her husband Daniel Wade Lucas, one son Mike Lucas and a grandson Mark Lucas.
She is survived by a daughter Rochelle Lucas of Goodland, KS, a daughter-in-law Debbie Lucas of Cheyenne Wells, CO, six grandchildren; Braden Lucas of Goodland, KS, Jordan Hopkins of Goodland, KS, Lacey Hopkins of Goodland, KS, Wade Lucas of Goodland, KS, Justin Lucas of Ellis, KS and Brandon Lucas of Sharon Springs, KS. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
