Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Gordon Wayne Colip, 76, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Topside Manor in Goodland.
Gordon was born on December 19, 1944 in Norton, Kansas to Ivan Manson and Jesse Gladys (Hendricks) Colip. He was one of two children. He grew up on a farm north of Almena, KS. After graduating from Almena High School, he went on to attend Kansas State University where he graduated in 1968 with a degree in Agriculture.
On September 2, 1967, Gordon married his high school sweetheart Karen Sue Gilmore. To this union four children were born; Stephany Delene, Tamara Lynn, Jason Wade and Jeremy Aaron.
Gordon had a deep faith in God. He read and knew the Bible and never missed church or his Sunday School Class. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He never missed an event that involved them. He loved to watch them all in sporting events of any kind. He also enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren. Gordon and Karen spent many hours together fishing and prairie dog hunting. He could make anything out of wood. Most of their furniture was made by him. He even built the home they lived in.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men and Rotary International. He delivered many Meals on Wheels, and helped every year on the Methodist Carousel at the fair.
Preceding Gordon in death were his parents Ivan and Gladys Colip, his daughter Stephany Colip and son Jason Colip, his mother and father-in-laws Frank and Florence Gilmore, and his brothers-in-law Scott Gilmore and Kent Carpenter.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Karen, his children Tammy (Harvey) DeLaRosa of Littlefield, TX and Jeremy (Cindy) Colip of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Dallas (Gabby) DeLaRosa, Stephani (Demetrio) Navarette, Jacob DeLaRosa and Kyler Colip; three great grandchildren, Avery DeLaRosa, Zakary DeLaRosa and Nicholas Navarette; his sister Marie Carpenter; two nephews Jim Carpenter and family and Ryan Carpenter.
Gordon fought a long hard battle with Parkinson’s disease, and now he can Rest in Peace. He is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
