Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Glennis G. Pittman, 92, died Monday, January 27, 2014, at Goodland Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 12, 1921, at Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Olga (Schmidt) and Jesse Gowin. She graduated from high school in Scott City, and then continued her education at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, earning her teacher’s degree.
In 1949, she moved to Goodland, Kansas to teach third grade students. On August 9, 1957, she and William C. Pittman were married at the First Christian Church in Goodland. Her memberships included First Christian Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband William C. “Bill” Pittman, who died November 7, 1993; her parents; brother Royce Gowin; and sister Lorenn Elrod.
Surviving family includes her sons Stuart Pittman and his wife Heather of Goodland; Cameron Pittman of Goodland; sister Vernice Leslie of McCook, Nebraska, and formerly of Goodland; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, January 30, at 1:30 PM MT, at First Christian Church in Goodland, with Reverend Carol Edling Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Wednesday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.
