Lifelong Sherman County, Kansas resident Glenda V. (Middleton) Seibert, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Glenda, who was the daughter of Ernest and Waneta (Roberts) Middleton and loving wife of Robert Seibert, died at the Goodland Regional Medical Center after a valiant struggle with cancer, with her dedicated daughter at her side.
Surviving family includes two sons Cameron Seibert and his wife Diana of West Valley City, Utah; Kevin Seibert and his wife Loretta of Randolph, Kansas; and daughter Kelly Rippe and her husband Brian of Goodland, Kansas. Glenda was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Dale Middleton of North Platte, Nebraska; sister Maribeth Delehoy of McCook, Nebraska; brother-in-law Fred Allen of of Lees Summit, Missouri; and many nieces and
nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of forty-two years Robert Seibert, her parents, and sister Gayle Allen.
Glenda was born September 10, 1940, in the Boothroy Memorial Hospital in Goodland, Kansas, and lived her early years in Ruleton until the family later moved to Goodland. She attended Goodland High School and married Robert Seibert on December 29, 1957. Working as a janitor at Goodland State Bank for many years, she considered the Goodwin’s family to be part of her extended family. To her children, she inspired independence, critical thinking and respect for all people. She was her children’s advocate, whether it was for sports, music, or bailing them out of jail. She enjoyed playing cards, pool, Scrabble, working crossword puzzles, and she was an avid reader. She and Bob loved to travel by taking driving trips, and she later enjoyed her visits to her sisters’ homes. She was an avid garage sale seeker, and would bargain a twenty-five cent item to a nickel, if you let her. She took pride in the pond and flower gardens that she built around her home. At Christmas time, she worked diligently, while throwing in the correct amount of cuss words, on her Christmas village. She never was satisfied with her creation, but it was always a sight to see.
We will miss her love, friendship, and most of all, her quirky way of getting you to smile, no matter how bad you felt. Mom, you will be missed.
I know in my heart
The peace you’ve found
Is better than
The pain which couldn’t be downed
I only want once again
To see you
As the person you were
Before life brought the strain
Mom, Your love was next to none
Mom, I’ll miss you
Mom, look down and smile
You mattered to this one
The graveside service will be on Friday, October 30, at 2:00 PM MT, at the Goodland Cemetery, with Larry and Brenda Beringer officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
