Gary Cox

January 24, 1959 — June 5, 2017

Longtime Wallace, Kansas resident, Gary Edward Cox, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.

Gary was born on January 24, 1959 in Beeville, Texas to Ralph E. and Virginia (Curbello) Cox.  He was one of three children.

Gary moved from Texas to Petaluma, CA where he attended grade school and graduated from Wallace County High School in 1977.  He then went on and attended one year of college at the Northwest Kansas Technical College, getting a certificate in Carpentry.  Gary’s father passed away when he was 12, and after that time, he and his family moved to Kansas. While attending Wallace County High School he became very good friends with Belinda Bolen where their friendship flourished into a relationship. At that time he began working as a farm hand for Guy Bolen at 16yrs old. He spent a lot of time working at the farm and then just became part of the family. Gary and Belinda were then married on May 12, 1979 at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs.  To this union, three children; Ryan, Braden, and Joel were born.

Gary had a strong faith and a passion for family, farming, & fishing. He was a Fisherman with a farming hobby. He also loved golfing with family and friends. He could pretty much fix anything. Gary was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Anything that Gary & Belinda did, they did it together. Whether it was working or spending time with the family & friends. He spent his life as a farmer, and was the proud owner of Frontier Farming, LLC.  He was a member of the Dinas Community Church, the USDA Board, the Dinas Community Church Board, as well as the Wallace County School Board.

Preceding him in death was his father Ralph Cox.

He is survived by his mother Virginia Curbello-Phelps of Sharon Springs, Kansas, his wife Belinda of Wallace, Kansas, his mother and father-in-law Guy and Marlene Bolen of Wallace, Kansas, three sons; Ryan Cox (Heidi) and their children Michael and Gabriel of Brewster, Kansas, Braden Cox (Kaylee) and their children Lydia, Layla and Lyric of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Joel Cox of Garden City, Kansas.  He is also survived by his sister Terry Wininger (Mike) and their daughter Suzanne Zubrod of Depoe Bay, Oregon; brother Jim Cox (Cynda) and their children John Cox of Parker, Colorado and Ashliegh Hill of Gem, Kansas; two brother-in-laws Bryan Bolen (Edna) and their children Danny, Kim, Missy, Mandy and Brandon; and Bruce Bolen (Emily) and their children Lester and Tamela, all of Sharon Springs, Kansas.
