Longtime Goodland, KS resident, Freda House, 103, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019, at Topside Manor in Goodland.
Freda was born on July 18, 1916, in Bird City, KS to Adolph and Julesie Z. (Hansson) Gemmer. She was one of six children. She graduated from Edson High School in 1934. Following graduation she went on and completed a summer class at K-State to receive her teaching certificate.
On November 9, 1941, Freda married Harlan B. House in Goodland at the Methodist Church parsonage. To this union, four children were born; Harlan, Lorna, Linda, and LeAnn.
Freda taught 1st through 8th grade in rural Sherman County. Most of all she enjoyed working as a homemaker and raising her family. She enjoyed working with youth in Church and 4-H, and volunteered in the local schools.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one grandson Andy House, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her four children; son Harlan and Cora House of Goodland, KS, daughter Lorna and Leonard Nelson of Arvada, CO, daughter Linda and Gerald Franklin of Goodland, KS , and daughter LeAnn House and Shelley Gruskin of Duluth, MN. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
Private family burial was held at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS with Pastor Zach Anderson officiating.
