Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Frances I. Musalek, 86, died Friday, September 21, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland.

She was born October 27, 1925, at Chardon, in Rawlins County, Kansas, the daughter of Jennie O. (McDaniel) and William F. Roesch.  She graduated from high school at Atwood, Kansas.  On November 11, 1946, she and Frank Musalek were married at Atwood, and made their home at McDonald.  They moved to Goodland in 1954.  She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland.  Frances enjoyed raising her seven children.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, playing bingo, writing poems, playing the piano, dancing, visiting with family and friends, seeing the people from Meals On Wheels, flower gardening, canning (especially million dollar pickles and watermelon pickles), and baby-sitting her grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter Debbie Snethen; granddaughter Susan Colby; grandson Marshall Snethen; brother James Roesch; and sister Mary Noble.

Surviving family includes her children Frank Musalek and his wife Jody of Hays; Jeanette Bogart and her husband Varden of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Janice Schwertfeger and her husband Harlan of Hutchinson; Marilyn Colby and her husband Darryl of Haysville; Becky Spady and her husband Greg of Hastings, Nebraska; Linda Rumpel and her husband Brian of Goodland; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 24, at 2:00 PM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Friends may share their respects on Sunday, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.  Vigil and rosary will follow at 6:00 PM MT.

Memorials may be designated to OLPH Catholic Church or to Frances Musalek Memorial, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
