Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Florence Velma Vignery, 93, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland.
She was born October 12, 1918, at Goodland, the daughter of Aura Augusta (Hurd) and George Clinton Horton. She graduated from Sherman Community High School with the class of 1936.
In 1940, she and James Richard Newton were married and to this union was born James Ronald. James died on July 28, 1945.
On November 10, 1946, she and Glenn Joseph Vignery were married at Goodland and to this union was born Glenn Michael. The family made their home in Goodland, except for seventeen years, when she and Glenn lived in Oakley and helped run Rasure Lumber Company there.
Her memberships included First Christian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Goodland.
Preceding her in death were her first husband James Richard Newton; and her second husband Glenn Joseph Vignery, who died May 23, 1986.
Surviving family includes her sons James Ronald Vignery and his wife Judy of Goodland; Glenn Michael Vignery and his wife Amanda of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren Jennifer Jo (Jon) Goin, Derek Michael (Julie A.) Vignery , Jeffrey Ronald (Julie L.) Vignery, Joshua Watson (Helen DeLeon)Vignery; Gretchen Marie Williams, Jessica Ann Vignery; seven great-grandchildren Jaxon Glenn Vignery, Jadyn Lynn Vignery, James Douglas Vignery, Jeric Richard Goin, Jace Joseph Goin, Ashten Michael Vignery, Kobi Glenn Williams.
