Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Felix Bernard Reitcheck, Jr., 86, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society in Atwood, Kansas.
He was born June 22, 1929, at Hoxie, the son of Helen (Albers) and Felix Bernard Reitcheck, Sr. He attended Scott School, south of Seguin, Kansas.
On June 1, 1949, he and Marcella Agnes Jacobs were married in Leoville, Kansas. In 1957, they moved from Dresden to Goodland to make their home.
He worked for Gambles, Sears, S+H Drilling, and Hilty Irrigation. In 1990, he opened Reitcheck Pump and Repair, his water pump, well, and windmill business, retiring in 2001. His memberships included Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He served in the Goodland Fire Department from 1965 through 1991. His hobbies included buying and restoring tractors, playing the banjo, and fishing and camping.
In April of 2012, he moved to Atwood, Kansas to live closer to his daughter Marilyn, and then in April of 2015, he became a resident at Good Samaritan Society in Atwood.
Preceding him in death were his wife Marcella Reitcheck, who died October 30, 2009; son Donald Francis, who died in October of 1949; daughter Herlinda Marie, who died in December of 1951; son-in-law James Hoard; grandson Chuck Holub; brother LeRoy Reitcheck; still-born brother Joseph Reitcheck; sister Mary Reitcheck; two brothers-in-law Gene Koerperich and Joe Givens.
Surviving family includes seven children Helen Hoard of Big Springs, Texas; Marilyn Holub and her husband Ronnie of Atwood; Phillip Reitcheck and his wife Mary Ann of Goodland; Jerry Reitcheck and his wife Connie of Colby; Barbara Hatfield and her husband Randy of Lewisville, Minnesota; Michael Reitcheck and his wife Theresa of Chadron, Nebraska; and Allen Reitcheck and his wife Aleta of Philadelphia, Mississippi; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five siblings Margaret Ritter and her husband Sylvester of Dresden; Anna Rose Givens of Wellston, Oklahoma; Delores Koerperich of Oberlin; Pauline Parke and her husband Curtis of Collyer; Betty Lou Jacob and her husband Clare of Sperry, Oklahoma, Gary Reitcheck and his wife Sandra of Hoxie; and sister-in-law Mary Reitcheck of Hoxie.
Friends may share their respects on Tuesday, July 28, from 4:00 until 6:30 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland. Vigil and Rosary will follow at 6:30 PM MT.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 29, at 10:00 AM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Martin Cemetery in Seguin.
