Everette Nothdurft

Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Everette L. Nothdurft, 85, died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1929, in Cheyenne County, Kansas, the son of Hazel (Kelly) and William Nothdurft.

He worked with Fred Schields in farming for twenty-eight years, before working with Herls Chevrolet for twenty-eight years.

In 1949, he and Vivian Walz were married, and she preceded him in death in 1997.  Everette was a kind and gentle man that loved gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and his four devoted dachshunds.  NASCAR races and Kansas City Chiefs games were his favorite sports events.  He was a Shriner and was very passionate about the charities the Shriners support.

Preceding him in death were his wife Vivian; infant daughter Linda Kay; parents; two sisters Wanda and Geraldine; brothers John, Clifford, Paul, Joe, Floyd, and Bill.

Surviving family includes his companion of seventeen years Bettie Stithem, along with her children and grandchildren that became his own family; and nephews Steve Nothdurft and Brad Nothdurft.

Friends may share their respects on Monday, September 29, from 10:00 AM MT until noon, at Koons Chapel in Goodland.

The graveside service will be on Monday, at 3:00 PM Central Time (2:00 PM Mountain Time), at the St. Francis Cemetery in St. Francis, Kansas, with Steve McIllroy presiding.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be designated to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Northwest Kansas Animal Shelter, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS   67735-1555.
