Esta Hargadine

Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Esta Ruth Hargadine, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.

Esta was born on September 9, 1937 in Page City, Kansas to Floyd E. and Ruth Ellen (Taylor) Crouse.  She was one of seven children.  She attended school in Page City and graduated from Page City High School in 1955.  On July 7, 1957, Esta married Darrell Dean Hargadine in Winona, Kansas.  To this union, two children Darren and Becky were born.  Shortly after Esta and Dean were married, they moved to Goodland.

Esta worked for many years as a Medical Receptionist for Dr. Fitzgerald in Goodland.  She also helped at the daycare center in Goodland, and was a bartender at the VFW for many years.  Esta was the Goodland High School Wrestling Team’s biggest fan.  She was an avid bowler and loved to play Bingo.  Her absolute love in life was her family.  She especially took great pride in her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandson.  She always enjoyed a stiff drink and playing cards with everyone at the VFW and with her sisters, she loved the Denver Broncos and sports in general, and enjoyed writing poems.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, son, two brothers Harley Crouse and Robert Crouse, and one sister Leona Butcher.

She is survived by her daughter Becky of Goodland, two granddaughters Misty (Jerrod) Burk of Goodland, and Nikkey Hargadine of Missouri, two grandsons Ricky Hamlin and Bobby Hamlin of Missouri, three great grandchildren Taylor Milke, Ricky Milke and Lola Burk of Goodland, and one great great grandson Roman Simpson of Goodland.  She is also survived by three sisters; Rose Zella Organ of Wichita, Kansas, Donna Bradly of Pittsburg, Kansas and Vonna Goldsworth of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
