Longtime Sharon Springs, KS resident Eldon Lee Rohn, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Eldon was born on December 8, 1936 in WaKeeney, KS to Ferdinand and Lydia (Dietz) Rohn. He was one of two children. He attended school in Wakeeney and graduated from Sharon Springs High School in 1955.
On June 13, 1955, Eldon married Eleanor Fawn Gfeller in Sharon Springs. This union was blessed with two sons, Rodney and Bryan.
Eldon joined the United States National Guard in 1955 and was a longtime Reserve member, which enabled him to serve his country, as well as farm the land he loved so much. As a farmer, Eldon took great pride in working his land. In fact, he was a top producer and had beennationally recognized by the National Grain Sorghum Producers on multiple occasions. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed attending sprint car races and riding motorcycles. Eldon was also a collector of many things and liked working with his hands.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, both of his sons, and his brother,William R. Rohn.
Surviving family includes his daughters-in-law Kelley Rohn of Dodge City, KS and Nancy Rohn of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Cameron Rohn of Austin, TX, Derek Rohn of Kansas City, MO, Hollie Rohn Spencer (Jason) of Topeka, KS and Trever Rohn (Tara) of Hays, KS. He is also survived by two nephews,Mark (Barb) Rohn of Colorado Springs, CO and Blaine (Tamara) Rohn of Hutchinson, KS.
At this time there will be no services held for Eldon.
