Goodland, Kansas resident Edna Harriet McGhee, 86, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Cheyenne County Hospital in St. Francis, Kansas.
She was born May 25, 1929, at rural Shields, Kansas, the daughter of Alma Harriet (McMillen) and Raymond J. Belshe. She attended elementary schools at Shields and Farnsworth Country School near Healy, Kansas. She graduated from Healy High School with the class of 1946. She furthered her education at Hutchinson Community College in the 1947-1948 school year, and then graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Ventura College in the 1964-1965 school year.
She and Arthur Charles Pearson were married February 2, 1949, and later divorced in 1972.
On October 12, 1972, she and Bobbie McGhee were married at Anchorage, Alaska.
She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Goodland. Harriet loved to play her violin and piano. She taught her children to love the Lord and never missed an opportunity to pray with them before they went out into the world.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother Claude Belshe and sister Doris Belshe.
Surviving family includes her husband Bobbie McGhee of Goodland; children Sharyl Janice Moon and her husband Robert of Keaau, Hawaii; Cynthia Lulu La Fever and Jody Austin of Phoenix, Arizona; Steven Pearson of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Sandra Kay Morris of Lamar, Colorado; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Betty Belshe Rich; nephews and nieces Eugene, Dana, Deanna, and Susan and their families
The graveside service will be Friday, March 4, at 1:00 PM MT, at the Goodland Cemetery, with Pastor Clifford Middlebrooks officiating.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be designated to the Harriet McGhee Memorial, and may be left at the service, or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
