Duane Allen Jones, 95 of Greeley, formerly of Brewster, Kansas, passed away February 8, 2017 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. Duane was born March 9, 1921 in Murdo, South Dakota to Allen E. and Monna (Beck) Jones. He was the oldest of three children. He married Carrie Ruth McClelland on June 20, 1946 in Goodland, Kansas. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in June of 2016 with family and friends.
Duane graduated from Edson High School in Edson, Kansas, where he was very active in sports. He lived in Brewster, Kansas from 1946 until 2009, at which time he moved to Greeley. While in Kansas he was the manager of Brewster Coop elevator and station and farmed south of Goodland. He served in the United State Army Air Service Corp (483rd) stationed in London, France and Belgium. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon and three Bronze Stars.
Duane was a member of the Methodist Church in Brewster, a member of the Brewster Senior Center Board, the Brewster School Board, a 4-H Leader, a member of the VFW and the Lions Club.
He loved to fish, camp, tell stories, and spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed doing projects around the yard and home. Duane will be greatly missed by those he loved and who loved him.
Duane is survived by his wife Carrie Ruth (McClelland) Jones; daughters Monna Rose (Mike) Blank and Linda (Larry) Hoffner; grandchildren Bradley Allen and Eric Hoffner and Aaron and Cale Blank; 5 great-granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Maxine (Walt) Trachsel and Wanda (Don) Scott.
Burial will be in Goodland, Kansas.
