Lifelong Wallace County, Kansas resident Dorothy Elsie Teichmer Yehle, 95, was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas.
She was born May 13, 1920, in Venango, Nebraska, the daughter of Clara Johanna (Naggatz) and Eilerd Henrick DeBeer. The family moved to Sharon Springs, Kansas when she was a small child. She graduated from Wallace County Community High School in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
On February 17, 1940, she and Ben Dickinson Teichmer were married at the DeBeer home in Sharon Springs, and they made their home at the Teichmer family farm, where they farmed and ranched until Ben’s passing in April 1976. To them were born four children: Donald Eugene, Virginia Lea, Walter Leroy, and Carol Irene. Dorothy cared for Ben’s ailing parents until their passing. She was a hard worker and always had a big garden, canning lots of fruits and vegetables. She was a cook at the City Café in Sharon Springs, where people raved about the good food that she prepared for them. Later, she cooked at the Wallace Café at Wallace, Kansas. For a time, she worked at Prairie Manor , loving to get a smile out of the residents living there, and they seemed to love her. For twelve years, she worked for Great Western Sugar Company, weighing trucks during sugar beet harvest. One of the last jobs that she had was working at Pete’s Grocery in Wallace. She was a member of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon Springs and she loved her church family.
She was a very kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was the most content when she was helping others; she wanted to be there for them when they were troubled. It gave her purpose in life that was soothing to her soul. She was never too quick to judge others.
She married Francis ‘Frank’ Yehle of Wallace, and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her were her son Donald Teichmer, great-granddaughter Kalee Renner, her parents, brothers Bill DeBeer and George DeBeer, and sisters Ella Larson and Marie Johnson.
Surviving family includes daughter Viginia Renner and her husband David of Wallace; Carol Renner and her husband Murry of Granby, Missouri; son Walter Teichmer of Grinnell and friend Michele Caine of Dodge City; nine grandchildren Lance Renner and his wife Cinthia of Stella, Missouri; Jay Renner and his wife Susan of Neosho, Missouri; Floyd Renner and his wife Carrie of Stark City, Missouri; Jeff Renner and his wife Nancy of Dodge City; Gene Renner and his wife Angie of Lees Summit, Missouri; Joe Renner and his wife Michelle of Oakley; Shawn Teichmer and friend Nikki of Grinnell; Thayne Teichmer and his wife Jennifer of Grafton, North Dakota; Tristen Teichmer and his wife Tamara of Garden City; seventeen great-grandchildren Jacob Clark and his wife Jordan; Ryan Renner and Nathan Renner; Alison Renner and Payton Renner; Jada Renner and Levi Renner; Trae Renner and fiancé Morgan Peoples; Kacia Lowe and her husband Mac ; Kelsey Renner and Riley Renner; Eric Renner and Grace Renner, Maci Renner, Marshall Renner, Madelyn Renner; nine great-great-granchildren Delanee Bronson; Haven Lowe and Cara Lowe; Hadlee Renner; Maximus Clark and Berkley Clark; Sabastian Teichmer and Megan Teichmer; Gemma Teichmer.
